If you have access to the internet, but not a text editing program like Microsoft Word, you can head to
https://wordcounter.net/ , which allows you to copy and paste your text, then displays word and character counts, along with other lexical tallies based on the sample you just entered.

  1. You can automatically compute and insert the number of words in your document
  2. Click where you want to add the number of words that are in your document.
  3. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Quick Parts.

  4. Click Field.
  5. In the Field names list, click NumWords, and then click OK.

  1. The Word Count dialog box helps you display the number of words.
  2. Use your cursor to highlight the section of your document that interests you.
  3. From the Review tab, in the Proofing group, click Word Count.

Usually, Microsoft Word automatically counts words in your document, which you can see at the lower-left of the frame around your document.

If you don't see the word count, watch how to right-click on the status bar to click and display Word Count.
